California Transit Works! is a California consortium of transit agencies, transit unions, and colleges focused on transit workforce development. CTW is a part of the California Workforce Economic Development Board (WED) statewide HRTP initiative.

We are a growing active network of transit unions, transit employers, and community colleges that address key workforce development issues facing the transit industry, their members, and their communities.

Picture
We conduct pilot projects selected by the Community of Practice members in key areas of mutual interest such as pre-hire programs; impact of changing technology on workers and the industry; etc.

We support individual labor/management transit training efforts through direct expert technical assistance provided by both CTW, and a technical assistance consortium funded by the California Workforce Development Board. We summarize lessons from successful labor/management transit training partnership work; and bring those lessons to CTW consortium members through regular meetings and networking (a Community of Practice).

We have created a mobile friendly website, catransitworks.org, that features “how-to” videos, materials, and resources; and promotes labor/management partnerships as a key transit workforce development strategy.
